
At Five-O, we believe true innovation isn’t found in a sterile boardroom—it’s forged in the consistent and sometimes challenging trade winds of Hawaii. As a rider-owned brand, we don’t just sell gear; we develop the equipment we use to push our own limits every single day, we decided to take a different path with the Dynamo V3and deliver performance as standard.
We build the Dynamo at a price point competitive with most “mid range” wing foil wings without the extra charges for exotic materials, booms or a weight penalty.
Throughout the development of the V3, the most frequent request from our community was simple: Give us a boom. Riders want the stiffness and tactile feedback of a boom, but not the industry trend where brands sell bare canopies and force users to buy components separately.
We listened. The Dynamo V3 now features our integrated carbon boom system, included out of the box. We believe you shouldn’t have to “build” your wing piece-by-piece to get it on the water. By pairing our stiff Dyneema frame with an integrated carbon boom, we’ve achieved market leading stiffness, while ensuring the wing maintains perfect balance and neutral handling.
However, while the boom is the most obvious change, the V3 is a total re-engineering of our platform. A boom is only as effective as the airframe it attaches to, so we overhauled the entire wing from the inside out. We completely redesigned the strut geometry, re-mapped the canopy layout for a cleaner profile, and optimized the tension and reinforcement points throughout the wing. The result is a more cohesive, responsive structure that handles power and de-power cycles with significantly more stability than its predecessors.
We don’t know if the boom is here to stay but we love using these V3’s. We have gone from soft handles in the exact right place for two-handed, powered riding to the pure adaptability of riding with a boom. Two-handed upwind hauls, one handed cruising and impeccable manners when flagged out on a bump.
For the V3, we took a massive step forward in production by partnering with Dave Ezzy of Ezzy Sails. A legendary name in windsurfing from the sport’s earliest days and known to produce some of the best wave sails in the market. Moving our production to work directly with Dave’s own factory in Sri Lanka has transformed the Dynamo V3. Foiling doesn’t exist in a vacuum and input from people at the pointy end of other water sports only allows us to develop better equipment. This partnership has allowed us to achieve a level of quality control, build precision, and delivery reliability that was simply impossible with our previous factory.
While production in China can be good value , but has proven a source of frustration and delayed a number of our product launches, we did not want the next big leap in Wing Foil Wings to suffer the same fate. When you ride the V3, you are riding a product built with decades of legendary sail-making experience behind it.
Developing the V3 was a collaborative loop across the Hawaiian islands, testing the limits of what a wing can do.
It starts with our owner, Mark Stevens, who rides daily in the changeable conditions of Molokai. Mark’s relentless testing ensures that if a design doesn’t hold up in real world wing foiling conditions, it doesn’t make the cut. We take those findings to our designer, Sam Reynolds, based on Maui, who translates that feedback into the precise geometry and structural tuning of the Dynamo V3. Sam then rides the latest version and, once approved by him, the cycle continues.
Finally, the feedback loop is closed by our team riders: Gabriella Da Bella on Maui, and Seth Womble on the island of Kauai. Seth’s input is vital; Kauai offers notoriously fickle, shifty conditions that test the limits of any wing’s behaviour as the wind switches on and off.
Gabi is an incredible water woman, across all foiling disciplines and also forms part of the development loop for Axis Foils and Kalama Boards. Gabi’s feedback is massively valued.
This multi-island approach ensures our wings aren’t just proven in perfect conditions—they are elite. Our performance and build quality is validated globally, most recently by Eric Karelfelt, who dominated and won the World Ice Winging Championships using our gear.

We make wing foil wings that are for real world riders as well as the elite (yes…. Ken Adgate, one of the most progressive foilers does refer to the Dynamo as the “MikesLab of wings.”)
A simple scaling approach would make the smaller sizes weak and the larger sizes hard to manage.

One of the major breakthroughs to come out of our multi-island testing loop was how we manage wing geometry as sizing scales up. On paper, high aspect ratios look fast, but on the water, a massive wingspan on a light-wind wing makes riding incredibly frustrating. To solve this, we designed the V3 layout so that the wingspan-to-surface-area ratio progressively reduces as the wings get larger. By compacting the outline on our larger sizes, we’ve created a line of large wings that offer high-end, efficient power. All the while they remain incredibly easy to manage, allowing riders to pump aggressively and turn freely without the constant fear of catching or dragging their wingtips.

You’ll notice the Dynamo V3 comes in just one color. This is a deliberate departure from the multicolor aesthetics of the V1 and V2. Global demand for high-quality Dyneema has skyrocketed across multiple industries, creating significant supply constraints.
To ensure we could secure enough material to meet our production requirements, we focused our procurement on a single, high-performance “Army Green” fabric run. This was available in the right volumes of the exact specification that we require for our performance expectations. We chose reliability and material availability so we could get the best possible gear into your hands without production delays.
We chose to build the Dynamo V3 wing using entirely high-performance Dyneema as it outperforms standard polyester ripstop fabrics in structural impact and tear-propagation tests. Unlike standard ripstop, which absorbs water and loses its shape, Dyneema is hydrophobic. It locks the airfoil geometry in place, ensuring the power delivery you feel on your 100th session is identical to your first.

By combining Dave Ezzy’s meticulous manufacturing, using cutting edge Dyneema and real-world, multi-island testing, we didn’t just build a new wing foil wing. We invested our collective energy into an elite piece of foiling gear to stand the test of time.
